We built Block Fire to do building safety properly.
Block Fire is a building safety compliance partner working across residential buildings and construction sites in the UK. Here's who we are and why we exist.
Why we built this
Fire safety, especially since Grenfell, has become one of the highest-stakes things a building owner or contractor has to get right — and one of the most poorly served. Too many buildings are stuck paying for waking watch they don't need. Too many sites treat fire detection as a box-tick. And too many fire safety companies install a system and disappear, leaving the customer to deal with the funding, the certification, and the regulator alone.
We started Block Fire to be the opposite of that: a partner who takes responsibility for the whole outcome, not just the hardware. Funded where funding exists. Compliant in every case. Properly, from start to finish.
What we do
Block Fire runs two lines of work, held to one standard.
For residential buildings in England, we turn government IMAF funding into completed, certified fire alarm systems — replacing waking watch with a permanent BS 5839-1 Cat L5 common alarm, with a clear upgrade path to a BS 8629 evacuation alert system.
For construction sites across the UK, we provide wireless, JCoP-compliant temporary fire alarm systems on a monthly subscription — keeping sites insured, compliant, and moving.
Every installation, in both lines of work, converts to an ongoing maintenance relationship. We don't install and disappear.
Founder-led
Block Fire is run by its three founders, who between them bring a combined 20 years across construction, fire safety operations, waking watch, and temporary fire systems. That experience is the reason we understand both sides of this business — the live construction site and the residential block dealing with a waking watch — from the inside.
On the early projects, a founder is on every job. That's deliberate. The first systems we install are the references everything else is built on, and we're not delegating that.
Robbie Dempster — Director
Robbie founded Block Fire after a decade in security and fire operations, including running the national waking-watch and temporary-fire-system division at one of the UK's largest privately owned fire and security companies. He is currently Managing Director of V360 Systems Ltd, a B2B engineering infrastructure business inside the same group, where he runs national operations and client delivery. He sets the commercial direction at Block Fire and is on-site for the first projects.
Reagan Dempster — Director
Reagan spent five years inside one of the UK's largest privately owned fire and security companies, where he led client relationships, planning, and service delivery for waking watch. He is currently a Managing Director within the same group, working closely with fire professionals across the UK. At Block Fire, he leads installation oversight and the client relationship through the life of the system.
Harry Dempster — Director
Harry brings five years of construction experience, currently holding a senior management role at one of the largest principal contractors in the world. He understands site fire compliance from inside the contractor's organisation — what programme pressure looks like, what auditors actually check for, and where temporary systems are most often weak. At Block Fire, he leads the construction-line commercial relationship and oversees site mobilisation.
Where we are
We're a disruptor in this market, and we're honest about being early in our journey. Here's exactly where we stand:
a VAT-registered company, not a start-up shell.
Until it's awarded, we deliver residential installations through our network of established SP203-1-certified installers.
through our UK-wide partner engineering network.
We'd rather tell you exactly where we are than overstate it. In a market where getting fire safety wrong has real consequences, honesty is the only foundation worth building on.
